Rainbow Distance Awards
The Swim England Rainbow Distance Awards are designed to complement the different stages of the Swim England Learn To Swim Programme. The Rainbow Distance Awards (including Puffin Award) are aimed at swimmers five years plus and are designed to demonstrate the pupils’ ability to swim from A to B without pause and without stress.
They are a great way to give swimmers the incentive to develop their swimming abilities and stamina by gradually increasing the distance they can swim. Pupils may touch the side and end of the pool (but not the bottom) in order to turn.
At The Standen Swim Academy, we award different distance badges to reward a specific distance covered by the swimmers:
Puffin, 5m, 10m, 20m, 25m, 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1km
Puffin Award : This award is aimed at beginners and is designed to test the pupils’ ability to travel five metres using any floatation equipment.
Swimming Challenge Awards
The Swim England Swimming Challenge Awards are available for all to complete.
Learners will be challenged to develop a wide range of skills and stamina to achieve the Awards, focusing on good stroke style.
Stroke style for the Swim England Swimming Challenge Awards doesn’t have to comply with Swim England law, but strokes must be co-ordinated, smooth and efficient.
Together with four certificates and accompanying badges, the Awards also come with a metal lapel badge with butterfly fastener as an optional extra.
